My son, IC Mendoza, can’t help raving about Anne Curtis after working with her in “A Secret Affair” (it opens Wednesday).
“She’s such a sweetheart,” IC gushes. “She can afford to act like a diva but she has no superstar complex at all. During lulls in the shoot, she would burst into song. In jest, she told me that if her singing voice was as great as Nina’s, who sang the theme of the movie, she would be perfect.”
I was touched when Anne sent a book, “When God Writes Your Love Story” (by Eric and Leslie Ludy), through IC, for my daughter, Bianchi, with this dedication: “Dearest Bianchi, this book inspired me to want only the best. In fact, God’s best, for me. Because then it will be the most beautiful love story in the world. I hope you find your Prince Charming. Love, Anne.”
The beauty of Anne’s heart matches the beauty of her face.
Survivor
How sweet of Dindi Gallardo-Mills to send me a message via Facebook after she read my column about her legal battle with “Batman: The Dark Knight” comic book writer Frank Miller’s gal pal, Kimberly Cox. What a woman of substance Dindi truly is. She will not only survive, she will prevail.
Her message: “Hi Dolly. My turn to reach out and thank you (again). My friend just sent me the link to your article. I’m very touched by the kind gesture. Sending you tight hugs and positive energy! XOXO Dindi.”
Enduring team
When I saw the teaser of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo’s coming teleserye, “A Beautiful Affair,” it reminded me of two of my all-time fave movies, “Before Sunrise” (1995) and its sequel, “Before Sunset” (2004, both topbilled by Ethan Hawke and Julia Delpy). JL and Bea also shot some scenes in Vienna—the same location as that of “Before Sunrise.”
It’s about two strangers who meet in a train and spend one night together. They vow to meet in one place after several years but they don’t exchange numbers. So they leave it all to fate.
I’m excited to watch how JL and Bea will do a Hawke and a Delpy, with a Pinoy twist and the enduring charm of their love team.
Cell therapy
The latest craze among celebs is to undergo fresh cell therapy. Lorna Tolentino swears by it. Boy Abunda had his mom try it in Europe. Now one doesn’t even have to travel to avail of it. Villa Medica, a provider of Fresh Cell Therapy, has opened its Asian office in the Philippines. Time to take better care of yourself. If you don’t, who else will?
PERSONAL: Congrats to my good friend Beth on the recent opening of her De la Rosa Detox Center (Unit 200 De la Rosa Bldg., Gov. Lacson St., Sampaloc, Manila, across UST Hospital). Bid the toxins goodbye just like I did.
Endless thanks to Ovation Prod’s main man, Renen de Guia, for being ever so accommodating.
