MANILA, Philippines— “Kalayaan (Wildlife)” won the Netpac Award for Best Asian Film in the Warsaw International Film Festival on Saturday night, its director Adolfo Alix Jr. told the INQUIRER via SMS on Sunday morning.
Netpac is acronym for Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema.
The film stars Laotian-Australian actor Ananda Everingham, Filipino actors Zanjoe Marudo and Luis Alandy as soldiers assigned on the disputed Spratly Islands.
“Kalayaan” was an entry in the 2012 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, where it won Best Sound, Best Production Design and Best Cinematography awards in the Director’s Showcase category.
