HBO docu on Roach

/ 10:17 PM October 20, 2012

“On Freddie Roach,” the all-new cinéma-vérité six-episode series by renowned filmmaker and Emmy nominee Peter Berg, premieres on October 29, 10 p.m. on HBO HD and 11 p.m. on HBO (with new episodes airing weekly at the same time.)

The unscripted show focuses on Freddie Roach, who owns and operates the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. It chronicles his life and career against the backdrop of Parkinson’s disease, an ailment very likely linked to his own boxing past.

Roach fought as a professional and ended his career in 1987 with a record 41 wins and 13 losses. He went on to train more than 20 world champions, including Manny Pacquiao and Mike Tyson. On Dec. 6, 2011, he was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
