‘Women of Substance for RH’

A group of prominent Filipino women strongly supports the RH bill that, according to them, is essential in furthering the right of women to choose a quality life. The media forum, “Women of Substance for RH,” at Sofitel recently presented the views of Lilia Bautista, Marides Fernando, Kimi Cojuangco, Evelyn R. Singson, Esperanza Cabral and Mary Jane Ortega.

According to Cojuangco, the bill is about educating, not stopping people from having children.

Singson agreed, “Everyone has a right to education, and sex education cannot be left out, though the content of the course must be carefully monitored.”

Ortega pointed out that the bill isn’t only for women—it also concerns men.

Some good reasons to support the RH bill: To protect the health of mothers; to save babies, couples should practice proper birth spacing, and to respond to the majority who want smaller families.
