MANILA, Philippines—English classic rock band, The Zombies, totally rocked the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on Friday night, said Inquirer Entertainment Editor Emmie Velarde.

As witnesses would attest, though in their 70s The Zombies performed like, well, the undead.

“What are these guys, 25 years old?” Velarde told the Inquirer via SMS.

It was a night full of colourful characters.

At the PICC, spotted were former First Lady now Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos, former Chief Justice Renato Corona with wife Cristina, socialites Frannie Jacinto and Cory Quirino.

At the start of the show, the audience were asked to dance and everyone obliged and seldom stopped.

Formed in the early 1960s, The Zombies became a world music sensation with their hits “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No,” and “Time of the Season.”

Though the group was disbanded at the latter part of the ‘60s, it was “resurrected” in the early 1990s and would play for another decade. Only two original members are part of the present group, Colin Blunstone (lead vocals) and Rod Argent (organ, vocals).
