Santos – Tux’s longtime musical director who had known Antonio for 28 years –told the Inquirer that the group was wrapping up rehearsals at Tux member Manny Aquino’s home when Antonio suddenly slumped on the floor and lost consciousness.
Antonio was rushed to the United Doctors Medical Center in Quezon City, where doctors were unable to revive him.
“He will be remembered for his distinct, full bass, and the candor and humor he brought to his performances,” Santos said.
Tux – whose other members are Carlo Bulahan, Jeric Mariano, Dante Sibug, Monet Silvestre and Popo Suanes – has represented the country in various music festivals around the world, and has collaborated with artists such as Ryan Cayabyab, Regine Velasquez, Lea Salonga, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera and Basil Valdez.
Antonio’s remains lie at the St. Ignatius Chapel in Quezon City, and will be cremated on Sunday.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl and sons Patrick and Paris. Allan Policarpio, contributor
