LOS ANGELES—PSY ain’t goin’ nowhere. Not up. Not down.
For a fourth straight week, the South Korean rapper’s “Gangnam Style” remained parked with the brakes on at No. 2 on Billboard’s authoritative Hot 100 pop music chart, released Wednesday.
Psy, 34, whose real name is Park Jae-Sang, rocketed to international fame when his “Gangnam Style” and goofy signature pony dance went viral in July on YouTube, where it has notched up more than 480 million views.
But the Seoul man’s dreams of topping the US hit parade – and making good on a promise to dance half-naked if he does so – remained elusive as California pop-rockers Maroon 5 held on to first place with “One More Night.”
“The more than two-to-one radio advantage of ‘Night’ is enough to keep it at No. 1 on the Hot 100 despite ‘Style’ leading in streaming and sales,” said Billboard, the leading US music industry trade paper, on its website.
The Hot 100 reflects CD sales, digital downloads and radio play.
