When I read about Dindi Gallardo allegedly being bullied by actress Kimberly Cox, gal pal of comic-book writer Frank Miller (https://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/holy_crap_batman_2IaaYHNNlcPOnq33z8BDpM), I immediately sent the former beauty queen/actress a message on Facebook. Dindi is now Joanna Gallardo-Mills and based in the United States.
Her reply:
“I’m sorry I am unable to comment regarding my case at this point … Please contact my lawyer for details. Thank you so much for reaching out and showing [your] support. I need it now more than ever.”
I salute Dindi for being courageous enough to stand up and fight. Carry on, Dindi! Show the world that Pinays are made of sterner stuff.
‘Flower Power’
Kean Cipriano is euphoric because “Flower Power,” his band Callalily’s new album, has been released. “It’s our best so far,” he said, beaming. “We went up to the mountains to write these songs about new hope, love, friendship.”
Excerpts from our interview:
Why “Flower Power”?
It’s a slogan used in the 1960s and ’70s for peace and love. We’d like to make it the comeback campaign of our band.
What’s your advice to aspiring bands?
Practice, laugh, respect others, be crazy.
What’s your song for yourself these days?
“It’s a Wonderful World.”
Callalily’s main man is in full bloom.
Boo Boo’s b-day
Ogie and Regine Alcasid’s baby boy Nate is turning 1. The theme of his birthday party is Boy Pick-Up (Ogie’s “Bubble Gang” character). Regine’s Instagram posts are full of Nate’s cute pics. She fondly calls him Boo Boo. Of all the songs Ogie and Regine have ever sung, “Happy Birthday to You” would be the sweetest.
MindaNOW, MindaNEW
Here’s Sen. Kiko Pangilinan’s take on the framework peace agreement:
“The aggressive peace negotiations with the MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) in the 1990s created the window of opportunity that led to the progress and development of Davao City, GenSan and Cagayan de Oro. We look to the peace talks with the MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) as a means to usher in a second wave of development that will see the economic rise of cities like Cotabato, Butuan, Iligan, Marbel, Marawi and Zamboanga. Only the creation of these pockets of progress and development and the realization of meaningful changes will render armed conflict and the insurgency irrelevant. May we live to see the day that the guns of armed conflict are silenced forever in our beloved land. May our children inherit this land, peaceful and prosperous and may the Lord grant us the will, the courage and the strength to make it happen. A lot remains to be done. A commitment to peace is hollow unless the quality of life in Mindanao vastly improves.”
