No suitors for perky star until sibling graduates

/ 09:36 PM October 16, 2012

Perky star can’t entertain suitors because of family responsibilities. PS shuns love in order to focus on her career.

A lot of people rely on PS, including a sibling who is studying… abroad! Fortunately, this one is graduating soon. Unfortunately, this studious sibling wants to take up a master’s course. Does this mean that PS will be loveless for two more years at least?

On the bright side, maybe PS should be grateful that the considerate sibling didn’t take up medicine or law. Then again, there’s still such a thing as a doctorate degree.

Reunited

FEATURED STORIES

The grapevine says Gorgeous Star is involved with hot and hunky Foreign Cutie.

But there’s talk that GS wants to reunite with Former Beau, scion of a rich family.

Well, GS and FB were the perfect couple when they were together. Perhaps returning to familiar ground is just what GS needs right now—especially since she’s in transit on both the professional and personal fronts.

Crossing over

Another Talented Filipino has been invited to guest on this popular US TV show.

TF’s travel papers are ready, a source says. And we predict TF will soon cross over to worldwide fame—like other gifted Filipino artists who performed on the same program?

At least, TF was formally invited, unlike Pretty Pinay, who virtually “gate-crashed” the show and milked the publicity for all it’s worth.

Down and out

Cute Hunk had big plans. To his credit, CH was fearless and pursued his dream, though it meant vanishing from the local scene for a while.

That was a costly mistake. CH’s savings account depleted, and the pursuit led him nowhere.

CH is back to square one and trying to jump-start his career by taking on a serious project.

Sadly, a mole said CH can’t seem to rise to the challenge. He is said to have taken over a dozen takes to pull off a tricky dramatic scene.

Reality bites back

Pundits predict that Cute Newcomer could top this network’s reality talent search.

Even fellow aspirants have accepted the inevitability of CN’s victory. But an insider doesn’t think CN should win because “he’s arrogant.”

During an interview, CN was a trifle too cocky, the insider related. “He said that coming from a show biz clan helped a lot. Nothing could be farther from the truth.”

CN’s only “connection” to the biz is a relative who has been chastised by critics for being inept. That’s nothing to brag about.

Kapamilya Christmas

SCENES in ABS-CBN’s Christmas station ID were inspired by real-life events, according to Robert Labayen, head of Creative Communications Management. For instance, actor Gerald Anderson, in top photo with a Philippine Coast Guard crew, is known for going on rescue missions during floods. Above: Jodi Sta. Maria, Zia Quizon, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Richard Yap. Theme of the SID is “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko” and centerpiece is the parol.

Gerald Anderson went on location at Artex Compound in Malabon for the shoot of ABS-CBN’s Christmas SID (station ID). Gerald was with members of the Philippine Coast Guard for his sequence.

Residents of the compound were delighted to see him, along with the “Pinoy Big Brother Teens” housemates. Female members of the community rowed the celebs’ small boats.

ANGEL Locsin’s smile sparkles as happily as the holiday lanterns in ABS-CBN’s Christmas station ID, which premieres tonight.

Angel Locsin took time between takes to talk with Red Cross volunteers about her experiences during her recent volunteer work.

Zsa Zsa Padilla and Zia Quizon, being fans of “Be Careful with My Heart’s” Maya and Ser Chief, had their photo taken with the love team of Jodi Santamaria and Richard “Papa Chen” Yap on the SID shoot set.

Top of the Talk Shows

For those who missed last weekend’s TV gabfests (And why we are moved, if we are moved):

Marc Abaya on the passing of his mom, critically acclaimed director Marilou Diaz-Abaya: “She was at peace… ’yon ang mahalaga.”  (Truer words there are but a few.)

Marc on his mom’s legacy: “Lahat ng pelikula niya, may sinasabi.  More than a filmmaker, she considered herself a teacher.” (May all other directors follow that path.)

Rhian Ramos, asked if she’s ready to do more daring roles: “Handa ako na mas daring, as long as nakikita sa character na may dahilan.” (Shouldn’t that always be the case?)

Maxene Magalona on rumored suitor Renz Fernandez: “Maraming reasons kung ba’t kami naging close, so best friend.” (Would your dads approve of this… friendship?)

Lorna Tolentino on her son Renz’s brewing romance with Maxene: “Siguro in time aamin na rin ’yan! Ha-ha-ha!”  (Buti pa si LT, straight shooter.)

Dingdong Dantes, asked if rumors linking him to Isabelle Daza affected his relationship with Marian Rivera: “It’s not an issue, it’s not true. We always assure one another na andito kami para sa isa’t-isa.” (Is a project brewing in there?)

Marian on what she loves about Dingdong: “Ang maganda kay Dong, kahit busy, humahanap talaga siya ng time. Gagawa at gagawa talaga ’yan ng paraan para makita ko… That’s love!” (And that’s how some guys cover their tracks. We’re just saying…)

Joey de Leon teasing “Startalk” cohost Lolit Solis during his birthday celebration: “Kung meron akong gustong i-lips-to-lips ngayong birthday ko, ikaw ’yon! Dampi lang! … Siya pa maarte, itong matandang ’to!” (Now that is funny.)

Lolit on Joey’s request: “Ayoko! Dalagang Pilipina ako!” (And here we plead the Fifth.)

Rufa Mae Quinto, asked if she and Boy2 Quizon really had a romantic relationship: “Friends-friends pero ’di na nag-push. Parang MU lang. Yes, kiyeme-kiyeme!” (Semantics.)

ROBIN has a message for Aljur.

Robin Padilla on including his daughter Kylie Padilla’s suitor Aljur Abrenica in the movie, “Kuratong Baleleng”: “Para iparamdam ko sa kanya (Aljur) na ako’y hindi mo problema. Magiging problema mo lang ako kapag pinroblema ka ni Kylie.” (Good job, Binoe. You can keep an eye on him, too.)

Andi Eigenmann, asked if she’s OK with Albie Casiño attending the birthday party of her daughter, Ellie: “Di na naman talaga sila kasali; ayaw naman nila… pero if ever na gusto nila, I’m open to that because he’s still Ellie’s daddy.” (Has he acknowledged his part in that?)

Jake Cuenca on his rumored romance with Lovi Poe: “Di pa kami, baka malayo pa.” (Baka lang naman.)

Aiko Melendez on her spat with ex-boyfriend Patrick Meneses and his current girlfriend, Ara Mina: “Tama na, kasi may mga anak ako, eh. Alam niyo ’yong… feeling mo pinagtutulungan ka nang wala ka namang ginagawang atraso… Kung puwede tayong magbati-bati na, tama na, bati na… It doesn’t make us better persons;  pareho kaming talo.” (Gotcha.)

PIOLO Pascual: The measure of a man

Piolo Pascual responding to an online basher: “Pinatulan ko, sabi ko, ‘Huwag siyang epal… halika dito suntukan tayo! Magpakita ka sa ’kin, magsukatan tayo ng pagkalalaki.’” (Ah, the true measure of a man.)
