Here come the heavy hitters!
The foreign music influx has continued. And it seems as the months get closer to the holidays, the bigger and better artists are coming to the Philippines.
A few I thought who wouldn’t even come for a few more years at least or some highly unlikely who would even come have in fact scheduled concerts here in the coming months. The dates and venues have been set for each respective artist.
So far there are three names confirmed to come in and they are the following: Sting, Elton John and Jennifer Lopez. Whoever could imagine that these three celebrated world class artists would be coming one after another?!
I don’t think one entry will be sufficient to talk about these three personalities. Instead this piece will be divided into three parts to give a fair and accurate coverage for each artist. I will start with the rock-and-roll Hall of Famer, Sting.
Let me first give a brief rundown on why Sting would be such a monumental experience to watch—in my opinion—for reasons that I have been a fan of his new wave band called The Police ever since I heard the songs “Roxanne”, “Message in a Bottle” and of course, “Every Breath You Take” and even a few of his songs from his solo career like “Dessert Rose” and “A Brand New Day”.
I became aware of his music early on because it was impossible not to hear his songs being played years ago in different radio stations before, especially in the now-defunct NU 107.

He has won a combined 16 Grammy awards as part of the Police and as a solo artist aside from numerous recognitions for various categories too many to enumerate—an incredible feat quite difficult to surpass.

Sting’s musical influences cover new wave, rock, classical, punk and jazz and other sub genres. To have him perform here again will be a most meaningful treat for music aficionados who are looking forward to his concert with great anticipation and much excitement. The British rock-and-roll Hall of Famer is a must-see!
Sting will be performing at the SM Mall of Asia arena on December 9, 2012.
