Maine Mendoza couldn’t help but feel nostalgic as she celebrated the 10th anniversary of her first appearance on television as Yaya Dub on “Eat Bulaga.”

Mendoza’s fellow “Eat Bulaga” hosts treated her to a mini tribute on Friday, July 4, as a series of pictures were shown from the time Yaya Dub had her iconic moments on the show.

“I’m happy. I had no idea I’d reached 10 years here in ‘Eat Bulaga,’” said Mendoza, who wore a polka-dot dress with the same design as Yaya Dub’s iconic apron to commemorate the character and the segment “Kalye Serye.”

FEATURED STORIES

The slideshow of photos showcased the memorable moments from “Kalye Serye,” a soap opera parody segment that aired live on “Eat Bulaga” and centered on Mendoza’s Yaya Dub and Alden Richards, collectively known as “AlDub.”

The slideshow featured snapshots of Mendoza and Richards’ first meeting on air, their first photo in person doing the “pabebe pose,” and the iconic “plywood” moment that kept the lovers from meeting at the time.

Allan K mentioned that he was getting emotional looking back at those moments because he was a big fan of Mendoza’s Yaya Dub and Richards.

Mendoza then took to social media to further commemorate the moment, describing her journey as something that “always fills her with a smile.”

“I remember the highs and lows, wins and losses, noise and silence. Some days may have felt overwhelming, especially when I was starting, but it was fun while it lasted. I certainly tried to ride the wave to the best of my ability, and it’s amazing to think that I made it through. What a wild, wild ride,” she wrote

The actress-host then thanked the fans who have been with her since the start of her showbiz career as well as her “Eat Bulaga” family.

“Thank you for sticking around even when there seemed to be no reason to, for walking with me through every season even when it was more interesting to walk away, and for simply embracing who I am and all that I have to give,” she expressed.

“And I have been blessed to have Eat Bulaga as my home. I’ll always find a home with the dabarkads, who have seen and accepted all facets of me. It’s a big blessing not everyone gets to experience. What a privilege it truly is to be part of this family. Maraming salamat, dabarkads. I will always be right here, in the place I call home,” concluded Mendoza.

In 2015, Richards and Mendoza met on “Eat Bulaga” and became one of the popular love teams in Philippine show business, achieving not just local recognition but also international fame. /ra
