Hey June! clinches top spot on Spotify PH Viral 50 chart with ‘Lasik’

Hey June! — an indie band composed of members Jim Mase, Coey Ballesteros, and Aci Fodra — is making waves in the local music scene after their single “Lasik” topped Spotify Philippines’ Viral 50 chart for June 2025.

“Lasik” tells the story of the persona’s blurry vision improving after meeting a potential lover. The song is included in the indie band’s debut album “Curiosity Killed the Cat,” which was released in November 2023.

The album also contains the tracks “Curiosity Killed the Cat,” “Orasan,” “Sino Mali,” “Asan Ang Gana Ko,” “Back to You,” “Katulad Mo,” and “Biglang Taob.”

Two years after its release, the single rose to the top of Spotify Philippines’ Viral 50 chart for June 2025. It also landed 20th in Billboard Philippines’ Top Philippine Songs chart for the week of July 5, 2025.

“Lasik” has also been featured on the social media posts of several celebrities, including BINI Maloi, “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab” edition alums Shuvee Etrata and Bianca de Vera, Sharlene San Pedro, Adie, and Zild Benitez.

Hey June! was formed in June 2021 with a focus on the pop-rock genre. The band’s name is meant to be a tribute to the month when their journey in music started.

Among its notable milestones are winning the Breakthrough Artist Of The Year at the 36th Awit Awards in 2023 and performing at multiple events, namely, the Philippine Music Festival, REV Music Festival, Malaya Music Fest, and serving as the opening act of Moonstar88’s “25 Years Of Torete” concert. /gsg
