Actress Glaiza de Castro and singer Bayang Barrios paid homage to the legacy of “Encantadia” by singing their rendition of the show’s iconic theme song, “Tadhana.”
De Castro took to Facebook to share a clip of their soulful performance, recalling how her collaboration with Barrios came about.
“Isang pagpupugay sa nakaraan, sa naging bahagi ng ating kabataan. Hindi makakaila na malaking inspirasyon sa ating lahat ang himig na ito at ang boses na nagbigay kulay dito,” she wrote.
(A tribute to the past, to what was part of our youth. It cannot be denied that this melody and the voice that gave color to it are a great inspiration to all of us.)
“Nagmula sa isang eksena habang ginagawa namin ang Sang’re noong nakaraang taon ang liriko na aking naisulat, at mula doon, nagkaroon kami ng pagkakataong makapag-usap ni Ms. Bayang Barrios na tugtugin ng live ang Tadhana,” the actress continued.
(The lyrics I wrote came from a scene while we were making Sang’re last year, and from there, Ms. Bayang Barrios and I had the opportunity to talk and we agreed to perform “Tadhana” live.)
De Castro noted that they dedicate their performance to all the original and new fans of “Encantadia.”
Barrios originally sang the theme song for the original 2005 drama fantasy “Encantadia.” De Castro then starred as Pirena in the 2016 reboot of the series and current installment “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre.”
“Sang’gre,” which introduces Bianca Umali (Terra), Kelvin Miranda (Adamus), Faith Da Silva (Flamarra)nand Angel Guardian (Deia) in the lead, recently made headlines both for its good production and the controversial, consecutive deaths of key characters in the show.
Amid the backlash for the story’s new direction, Suzette Doctolero, who created the world of “Encantadia,” recently expressed gratitude to viewers who embraced the story’s new narrative. /ra
