Not even a week since his discharge from military service, BTS’ Suga donated ₩5 billion (approximately P207 million) to help in putting up an autism treatment center under his name.

Suga’s donation was announced by a representative of Yonsei Severance Hospital on Monday, June 23, via Korean entertainment platform Soompi. It was also mentioned that the hospital and the BTS member will establish a specialized treatment center that aims to help patients stricken with autism spectrum disorder.

According to Severance Hospital, the center will help in ensuring the patients’ mental health, where children and young adults will be provided with long-term support through “language, psychological, and behavioral therapies,” which, in return, is connected with proper research.

Suga had met with Chun Geun-ah, the hospital’s head of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, in November 2024, where they discussed the importance of using holistic methods to help those suffering from autism.

One of which is the development of the hospital’s Music Interaction Network Diversity (MIND) program. As mentioned by Chun in a statement, the program hopes to help those with autism “grow into independent individuals” and “improve awareness” about autism spectrum disorder.

“I sincerely thank Suga not only for his financial support but also for the genuine talent, donation, and volunteer work he has shown over the past several months. I was deeply impressed by Suga’s consistent sincerity, always approaching everything with a serious and thoughtful attitude,” Chun added, per report.

Meanwhile, the “Daechwita” singer reiterated that music plays an important role in helping autism-stricken patients “express [their] heart and communicate with the world.”

“Being able to take part in the treatment process for children with autism spectrum disorder has been a great honor and happiness for me, and I will continue to do my best so that more children can become members of our society,” he said.
