Construction worker Ricardo Cadavero — who is best known as Cardong Trumpo — was named the winner of the seventh season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” (PGT) on Sunday, June 22, at The Theater, Solaire in Parañaque City.
Before the winners’ announcement, Trumpo captivated the audience and “Pilipinas Got Talent” judges Kathryn Bernardo, Donny Pangilinan, Eugene Domingo, and Freddie “FMG” Garcia, with his routine featuring spinning tops of different sizes.
Among the highlights of the exhibitionist’s routine was maintaining his balance while the tops of different sizes kept spinning, which capped off with him balancing a massive top on his left hand.
“Nandito kaming lahat [para] suportahan ka, Tatay. Tatay, alam niyo po, tinanong po nila anong hinahanap ko aside sa talento dito sa ‘Pilipinas Got Talent.’ Iyon ay puso. At simula noong tumuntong kayo ng entablado noong auditions, nahanap ko na po ang hinahanap ko,” Bernardo said of his routine.
(We’re all here to support you, Tatay. Did you know that they asked me what I was looking for aside from talent in “Pilipinas Got Talent?” For me, it’s the heart. The moment you stepped onstage during auditions, I found what I was looking for.)
Trumpo was eventually declared the winner after receiving 99.5%, a near-perfect score based on the final tally of the judges and audience votes. He received P2 million as a prize for his win.
