MTRCB greenlights release of Pixar film ‘Elio’ and Sue Ramirez's ‘Flower Girl’

Romantic comedy “Flower Girl” starring Sue Ramirez will go head-to-head with the Pixar animation about an alien invasion, “Elio.”

Both films have been given the green light by the Movies and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for public exhibition this week, along with two other thriller films, “Dangerous Animals” and “28 years later.”

The MTRCB gave “Flower Girl” an R-16 rating, which means the movie may not be suitable for audiences younger than 16 years old due to themes, language, violence, nudity, sex, horror, or drug use.

FEATURED STORIES

Flower Girl” centers on the story of Ena, a sanitary napkin endorser, who wakes up to find her precious womanhood missing after an unexpected encounter with a mysterious fairy. Aside from Ramirez, the movie also stars Martin Del Rosario and Jameson.

Meanwhile, “Elio” received a PG (Parental Guidance) rating, suitable for viewers age 13 and below, provided they are accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.

From the makers of the hit Pixar animation “Inside Out,” the film follows the journey of Elio, an 11-year-old boy who accidentally becomes the intergalactic ambassador of planet Earth.

On the other hand, “Dangerous Animals” and “28 Years Later” were also given an R-16 rating.

“Both movies received age-appropriate ratings due to intense horror and frightening scenes that may be unsuitable for young viewers,” MTRCB chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio said.

She likewise encouraged Filipino families to enjoy these cinematic offerings while promoting responsible viewing.

“We encourage families to enjoy this week’s cinematic offerings, keeping in mind the value of age-appropriate and responsible viewing,” said Sotto-Antonio. /edv
