One of the favorite things that Karylle and Yael Yuzon love to do is going on K-drama nights, which they usually enjoy with Korean food and soju.

In a May 2024 interview with INQUIRER.net, Yael shared that he and the actress enjoyed going on K-drama nights, with the couple either ordering out or cooking the food featured in the series. The musician also described himself as “OA” (a euphemism for someone who is more extra or all-out than usual when doing something) when it comes to his love for it.

More than a year later, Karylle agreed with her husband’s remarks, noting that he’s the type who “doesn’t move on.”

“Matagal siya (Yael) mag-move on when he watches a K-drama. When he likes one, he will like it for a long time. He is a rewatcher. [He will] watch it 50 times. Ako naman, hindi ako rewatcher masyado,” she told reporters on the sidelines of the “Good Boy” global premiere in Bangkok, Thailand.

“He likes to memorize kasi, and he likes to watch everything again and again. Similarly, kapag nagustuhan niya ang K-drama, gagawa siyang kanta and tapos papanoorin niya one million times,” she further explained.

(It takes time for him to move on when he watches a K-drama. When he likes one, he will like it for a long time. He is a rewatcher. He will watch it 50 times. For me, I don’t rewatch often. He likes to memorize, and he likes to watch everything again and again. Similarly, if he likes a K-drama, he will write a song about it and will watch it one million times.)

Proving Karylle’s point are Spongecola’s songs “Tatlong Buwan” and “Hometown,” which are based on “Queen of Tears” and “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” respectively.

According to Karylle, food is a big part of their K-drama nights. They would even ask for their friends’ addresses and send them food. “Kung ano man kinakain ng bida sa show, ‘yun din ang kakainin namin.”

“Mamimigay din kami. isa sa favorite naming [kainin] ay corndog, and hihingin namin ng address ng mga kaibigan namin [para magbigay],” she continued. “One time, sina TJ [Monterde] at KZ [Tandingan], binigyan namin ng corndog.”

(Whatever the leads are eating in the show, we would like it too. We would also give out food to our friends. One of our favorites is corndog, and we would ask for the addresses of our friends to give some. One time, we gave corndogs to TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan.)

The celebrity couple also has a knack for pojangmacha dates, which translates to a tent where one either savors a shot glass or gets drunk on soju, with Karylle clarifying they enjoy emulating the “food.”

“Minsan din, pumupunta kami sa pojangmacha (sic), and gagayahin namin ‘yung mga bida na naglalasing. With all of the things we watched, we like to re-create. Basta if it’s a K-drama night, we have soju and food. ‘Yung food lang [ine-emulate] namin, wag na ‘yung feeling,” she said.

(We sometimes go to a pojangmacha and imitate the K-drama leads getting drunk. With all of the things we watch, we like to re-create them. As long as it’s a K-drama night, we have soju and food. We only emulate the food, not the feelings.)

Karylle was recently one of the Filipino personalities invited to the global premiere of “Good Boy” with Anne Curtis, Benedict Cua and Evan Tan.  /ra
