Rising actress Maxine Trinidad considers her lead role in “Beyond the Call of Duty” as a portrayal of a past dream, as it reminded her of what should have been if she had chosen to be part of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Trinidad revealed that she took the PNP admission test and was among the applicants who passed the exam. She eventually decided to give up her initial plan of becoming a policewoman and entered the entertainment industry instead.

“I actually took the Philippine National Police admission test, and I passed. But for me, I asked for God’s sign,” she said during the film’s media con. “Kaya pala hindi ko tinuloy maging kadete, ay para pala i-portray ang buhay ng isang kadete (Maybe this is why I didn’t become a cadet so I could portray the life of a cadet).”

The actress, who stars as PLT Ana Jacob in the film, said she was selected through an audition process, and channeled her life as a child of police officers in her role.

“This movie is a dream come true kasi po ay nanggaling sa pamilya ng mga pulis at alam ko ang mga sakripisyo na binibigay [nila], lalo na ang tatay ko,” she said.

“Nagtataka ako [dati] bakit hindi kami magkasama tuwing pasko, and inuuna pala niya ang public safety ng bayan. That is something [na I realized] kung bakit sumasaludo sa kanya [ang mga tao], it’s for a reason. [The police] earned that salute,” she continued.

(This movie is a dream come true because I came from a family of police officers. I am aware of their sacrifices, especially my dad. At the time, I wondered why I couldn’t spend time with him during Christmas. It turned out he had to prioritize public safety. It is something I eventually realized, including why people would salute him. It’s for a reason. The police earned that salute.)

Trinidad was supposed to go bald for her character; however, she had to leave her hair as is due to further discussions and “sudden” production changes. “Sa pagpapakalbo, it was an original plan but there are sudden changes sa production na kinakailangan na meron pa akong hair.”

“Meron pa kasing kailangang i-finalize regarding with that,” she continued. “Kaya [napag-usapan] na hindi na lang ako kakalbuhin para mas okay ‘yung continuity.”

(It was an original plan for me to go bald, but there were sudden changes in production where I had to keep my original hair. There were certain finalizations that needed to be made. So, it was eventually decided that I keep my hair as is to maintain the continuity.)
