Without confirming or denying her sister Cristine Reyes’ rumored breakup with Marco Gumabao, Ara Mina underscored that the younger actress is “mature enough” to handle the matter and that she knows what she’s doing.
“Whatever I know, it stays with me and I am not the right person to disclose the real score between them,” Ara said when asked about the split speculations involving the pair, during a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview on Monday, June. 2.
“But Cristine—she’s mature enough. All I can say to her is that we, her family, are always here for her,” she continued.
Ara then expressed her support for Reyes who, she said, has also been present to comfort her after she lost in the 2025 midterm elections.
“I think she knows what she’s doing and she also confides in me. I tell her my opinion on the matter but I always say, ‘The decision will always be yours,'” Ara continued.
“Naniniwala ako [na] kung kayo para sa isa’t-isa, kayo. At the end of the day, magiging magkaibigan pa rin kayo if hindi man naging kayo,” she added.
(I believe that if you are meant for each other, you will be together. At the end of the day, you can still remain friends if the relationship fails.)
When show host Abunda asked how Reyes is doing amid the speculations, Ara responded, “She’s okay. She’s doing fine.”
Reyes and Gumabao, who confirmed their relationship in 2023, sparked breakup rumors last April after netizens noticed that the pair had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The couple have since followed each other again on the platform, although most of their photos together on their respective pages appear to have been removed. /ra
