Cha Eun-woo is preparing to fulfill his mandatory duties in the South Korean military, as he is set to enlist on July 28.
The date of Cha’s military enlistment was confirmed by his agency, Fantagio, on Thursday, May 29, saying he was accepted into the army military band.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the Aroha who always send unwavering love to Astro, and we have an important announcement regarding our artist Cha Eun-woo’s military enlistment,” the statement read, per a Soompi translation.
Fantagio said Cha had received a final acceptance notice from the South Korean Military Manpower Administration, and starting on July 28, he will undergo basic military training and eventually enter the army military band.
The agency also expressed its gratitude to Cha’s fans and hoped that he would receive “warm encouragement” throughout his military service. “To prevent safety accidents due to congestion on the day of enlistment, the location and time of Cha Eun-woo’s enlistment will be kept private, and there will be no separate events held,” it said.
“We ask for your unsparing support and warm encouragement for Cha Eun Woo as he diligently fulfills his military duty and returns in good health,” it added.
Cha debuted as the vocalist and visual of the K-pop boy group Astro in 2016.
He made his acting debut in 2014 with a minor role in the film “My Brilliant Life,” and expanded his career as an actor years later. He is best known for his lead appearances in “Gangnam Beauty,” “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung,” “True Beauty” and “A Good Day to Be a Dog.” /ra
