Kapuso star Glaiza de Castro will join the cast of “Bar Boys: After School,” the sequel to the hit 2017 film “Bar Boys.”

De Castro’s casting was announced on the film’s social media platforms on Monday, May 26, although details about her character and arc are yet to be revealed.

“Glaiza de Castro has joined the cast of ;Bar Boys: After School.’ Multi-awarded actress, Glaiza de Castro is reuniting with her “Liway” director for ‘Bar Boys: After School,’” the post read.

The upcoming film marks the reunion of de Castro and “Bar Boys: After School” director Kip Oebanda after working together in the 2018 indie film “Liway.”

“Liway” was an entry to the 2018 Cinemalaya Film Festival, and tells the story of anti-Marcos dissident Cecilia Flores-Oebanda (de Castro), who is best known for her moniker, Commander Liway.

“For ‘Liway’ in 2018, Glaiza swept the nominations for the Gawad Urian, FAMAS, Star Awards, Eddys, Luna, and the Malaysia International Film Festival. She won multiple Best Actress awards, including the Film Academy of the Philippines Awards and the FACINE Gold for Best Actress in San Francisco,” the post read.

The Kapuso actress was also noted for her “outstanding work in TV and movies,” citing her previous projects “Encantadia,” “Contessa,” “Midnight in a Perfect World,” and “Sleepless,” to name a few.

Also joining the cast of “Bar Boys: After School” is theater actor Benedix Ramos, who will take on the role of Bok.

“Bar Boys,” which is noted for being a cult-favorite especially during the Bar Exam season, stars Carlo Aquino, Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, and Kian Cipriano. It tells the story of four best friends who dream of becoming lawyers. /edv
