“If there is something deeper than rock bottom, I was there. I think last year was my lowest year,” Richards told entertainment reporter Nelson Canlas.

“It took me six months to get over that. That was—it was not clinically diagnosed, but that was depression at its finest. That was depression,” he said.

Richards said he struggled without telling anyone about his condition because he did not want others to see his weakness. He then hinted at how his 2024 situation was caused by being excessively generous toward others.

“I put the welfare of others over mine. But last year, I think that was my breaking point,” he said. “We always go out of our way to help other people. What happened to me was that I ran empty, and that broke me to a million pieces.”

The actor noted he is now focusing on self-love and engaging in physical activities such as running and biking. He also stressed that he does not want his happiness to be defined by his love life.

Meanwhile, Richards earlier received a scholarship from an aviation school and has already begun his pilot training.  /ra
