Marcos hopes `The Last Resort’ movie projects PH `out into the world’

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday met with the cast and production crew of “The Last Resort” during a courtesy call at Malacañang Palace.
The film, set in the Philippines, is backed by business magnate Manny V. Pangilinan as executive producer, along with producers Ernesto “Bong” Sta. Maria Jr. and Raja Collins.
“Welcome to Manila, Welcome to Malacañang Palace, where… I was a little surprised when this popped up on my schedule,” Marcos told the film team.
“I am so happy now that you are, in fact, here and the work has started, it’s all exciting for all of us and thank you for coming to the Philippines and hopefully helping us project the Philippines out into the world,” he also said.

During the courtesy call, they showed Marcos a few short clips from the movie.
The romantic comedy movie is directed by Donald Petrie and written by Karen McCullah, who was born in the Philippines. The lead casts include Star Wars actors Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich.
It revolves around a career-driven woman who travels to the Philippines for work and unexpectedly falls for the country’s beauty—and a charming pilot. / MR
