Looking beautiful may be expected of celebrities, but Nikki Valdez and Moi Marcampo would like to challenge the perception, saying beauty is only skin deep, but maintaining healthy relationships and having a relaxed demeanor is a must.
Valdez and Marcampo gave their two cents on how beauty goes beyond glamor, treatments, and skincare on the sidelines of a skincare event, with the “Pamilya Sagrado” star saying that being “happy and content” is reflected in one’s skin.
“Beauty is only skin deep. If you’re happy, it will show. Not only happy, but also if you’re content with who you are and what you have. Beauty is not changing how you look. It’s really just enhancing the best version of yourself,” Valdez said.
Valdez also pointed out that changing one’s appearance is not a requirement to be beautiful.
“I don’t believe that you have to change something in your face to say you’re beautiful,” she said. “It’s just maintaining what kind of beauty you have already, that’s why it’s a constant thing to work on.”

Meanwhile, Marcampo admitted that she has reached a point in her life where she is unbothered by the beauty standards. “I’m quite relaxed when it comes to that. Let us act the same way when we feel beautiful,” she added.
She also said that she feels most beautiful after a workout session, releasing endorphins throughout her being. “After a workout, it feels like you’ve released everything you’ve been keeping inside of you. Showering after a workout also feels great,” she said.
From tennis to badminton
Valdez shared that she and her husband are fond of playing tennis during their free time, on top of her usual beauty treatments.
“I do a lot of tennis now, that’s my sport. I’ve been playing tennis for two years. My husband and I do that. We have a group of tennis-mates to maintain our activities. It’s important to be physically healthy, not just to lose weight. It’s important for our health,” she said.
Marcampo said she takes cues from her former employer-turned-close friend Piolo Pascual to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The actress-comedienne, who used to work as Pascual’s personal assistant, said the latter is fond of jogging and playing badminton.
“I play badminton with Piolo. We used to wake up early and go to UP to jog. He lives a healthy lifestyle, and I learned that from him. I also exercise every other day,” she said.

Valdez and Marcampo, however, laughed when they were asked for their “best beauty tip for someone lazy.” For Marcampo, washing her face to take off the excess makeup and dirt is her fuss-free solution.
On the other hand, Valdez said maintaining one’s appearance takes effort, whether one is in the mood or not. “If we want to look good, we have to do something about it. Hindi tayo pwede [maging] tamad. You have to give time for that.”
“As much as possible, I take advantage of the time I have. With social media now, people see the smallest things. They will not point out the beautiful stuff that they see; they will point out what doesn’t look right, so that alone should inspire or encourage you to do something about it,” said Valdez.
