Aktor PH launches database for Filipino artists

The League of Filipino Actors (Aktor PH) has launched its official website to build a community that champions Filipino artists.
The organization launched its website — which will serve as a database for Filipino actors — during its general assembly on Sunday, May 18, graced by its chairman Dingdong Dantes and other members of the board, among them Agot Isidro, Iza Calzado, and Boots Anson-Rodrigo.
Dantes said the celebrity website will serve as the artists’ “global calling card,” or directory where members’ profiles, filmographies, their contact numbers, and headshots can be viewed with just a click.
“This will serve as our global calling card because we want this to be the go-to site for casting Filipino talent, not only in our local industry but also globally. We want fellow actors to find the best opportunities it can offer. It has been a dream since day one,” Dantes said in his speech.

Aktor PH’s website also features a list of member-performers, seemingly patterned after the online casting database of celebrities in Hollywood. Among the artists in the page were Cherry Pie Picache, Tirso Cruz III, Elijah Canlas, Susan Africa, Charo Santos-Concio, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and Joel Saracho, to name a few
It also features the board of directors, comprising of Dantes (chairman), Isidro (vice chairman), Calzado (president), Piolo Pascual (public affairs director), Picache (welfare director), Mylene Dizon (treasurer), and Smith (social media).
“This will be like our representation, not just as actors in the Philippines, but also for future purposes, like maybe for foreign outfits scouting for Filipino talent, if there is a casting for artists. This page will allow them to view the whole range of Filipino actors who would fit their requirements,” he said in an interview after the assembly.
Aktor PH is also registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a nonprofit organization that aims to serve as a “place of protection” for Filipino artists. It has also participated in efforts to help actors in their working environments and representation, among other matters. /edv
