P-pop girl group BINI was honored with a certificate of commendation by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai on Saturday, May 17.

In Dubai for the first stop of their world tour, BINI shared a glimpse of the awarding ceremony on their social media pages.

“It’s an honor to be welcomed by the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, H.E. Marford M. Angeles, and his team. Thank you for the warm hospitality and for awarding us the Certificate of Commendation. We are proud to represent the Filipino spirit globally!” they captioned the post.

The eight-member girl group recently made it to this year’s edition of Forbes Magazine’s “30 Under 30 Asia” list under the Entertainment and Sports category. They are the only girl group included in the roster.

BINI is set to bring their “BINIverse World Tour” to Dubai and London, as well as several cities in the US and Canada from May to June.

Before their flight to Dubai, the girl group held a “quiet send-off” at ABS-CBN’s Chapel of Annunciation, taking a moment to reflect. 

While in Dubai, the eight girls also visited the office of renowned Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco. They also made appearances at radio shows and entertainment outlets.

BINI is composed of members Gwen Apuli, Aiah Arceta, Sheena Catacutan, Mikha Lim, Maloi Ricalde, Jhoanna Robles, Stacey Sevilleja and Colet Vergara. 

The group was formed in 2019 through ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy. They rose to fame with their hits “Pantropiko,” “Salamin, Salamin” and “Lagi,” among others.  /ra
