Angelika Dela Cruz is currently trailing behind incumbent Malabon Vice Mayor Edward Nolasco based on the Commission on Election’s partial, unofficial results in the 2025 midterm elections.
Dela Cruz received 51,908 votes, while Nolasco is leading with 69,572 votes based on the Comelec’s tally as of 12:23 a.m.
Meanwhile, the actress-turned-politician’s other opponents for the post, Jap Garcia and Dado Cunanan, got 35,968 votes and 15,068 votes, respectively.
In April 2025, Dela Cruz was charged with plunder involving at least P70 million in the barangay’s public funds before the Office of the Ombudsman. She had denied the accusations, claiming that it is part of a move by opponents to “discredit” her.
“Politics is really bad, if they don’t get what they want in slandering you, their next step is to sue you, maybe next time they’ll get me killed),” she said in Facebook on April 28.
The “Ika-6 na Utos” star is the incumbent barangay captain of Barangay Longos in Malabon since 2014.
Dela Cruz is best known for her appearances in the dramas “Mara Clara,” “Esperanza,” “Habang Kapiling Ka,” “Bituing Walang Ningning,” and “Prinsesa ng Banyera” prior to entering politics. /edv
