Maine Mendoza to Filipinos: ‘Don’t waste the chance to vote smart’

Maine Mendoza urged Filipinos to maximize their right to vote by selecting deserving candidates who demonstrate genuine concern for the country’s welfare.
One day before the May 12 polls, Mendoza shared the complete profiles of all the senatorial candidates on her Facebook page, stating that it’s for “everyone’s reference.”
“Let’s not waste the opportunity to choose the right people who have genuine concern for our country and for Filipinos. Let’s choose those who are honest and deserving. Vote smart—for the nation and for our fellow Filipinos,” she captioned her post in Filipino.

The “Eat Bulaga” host clarified that she shared the profiles of the senatorial aspirants to help voters discern them more thoroughly.
“These are the profiles of all the senatorial candidates so you can get to know them better and hopefully help guide you in choosing the right candidates in the upcoming election,” she stated in the comments section.
Mendoza emphasized the importance of researching and fact-checking the information about the candidates, given the rise of misinformation.
“Please remain discerning if you really want to get to know the candidates more thoroughly. It’s important to do your research and fact-check before believing what you see and read online. Fake news is widespread. Let’s be responsible and seek out the truth. Vote wisely!!! Vote for the right people. Vote the right way,” the actress concluded.

Meanwhile, celebrities Maja Salvador, Kim Chiu, Darren Espanto, and Erwan Heussaff, among others, were among those who had already cast their votes for the May 12 midterm elections.
