Action superstar Jackie Chan expressed his gratitude as he is set to be honored with Pardo alla Carriera, a career achievement award, at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
Chan took to Instagram on Wednesday, May 7, to reflect on his humble beginnings and journey to global stardom amid a new achievement.
“From my humble beginnings as an unknown martial artist on the set, working my way to where I am today; from wanting to work for just a meal, to being recognized by so many people around the world watching my movies. I always keep telling myself one simple thing, that is to make sure each shot captured is a good take,” he captioned his portrait.
Chan, whose career has spanned more than sixty years, credited his long-term collaborators for making every success possible.
“I couldn’t achieve these valuable moments on film alone, these memories were made possible with the help of my brothers (the JC Stunt Team). We used our lives to capture those unforgettable scenes,” said the martial artist.

The 71-year-old actor who is known for making his own stunts then thanked the festival organizers and his fans for their support, writing, “I’d like to thank the Locarno Film Festival for presenting me [with] the prestigious career achievement award, Pardo alla Carriera. Also a big thank you to all my fans all over the world!”
In their statement, the Swiss-based festival described Chan as a mainstay “beloved for action films that bridged the gap between East and West.”
Chan rose to fame for his work in several kug fu action-comedy films such as the “Drunken Master” and “Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow,” before conquering Hollywood with films such as “Police Story,” the “Rush Hour” series, and the “The Karate Kid” remake, among others. He is set to hold an onstage conversation in Locarno on August 10 as the 78th edition will run from August 6 to 16.
Held annually in Locarno, Switzerland, the Locarno Film Festival is one of the prestigious acting award-giving bodies in the world, with particular attention to independent filmmaking and auteur cinema.
In 2023, Arjo Atayde, Sylvia Sanchez, and Enchong Dee attended the Swiss festival event for the screening of their film “Topakk.”
The same year, actor John Lloyd Cruz was awarded the Boccalino d’Oro prize also known as the Golden Jug award for Best Actor for his performance in Lav Diaz’s “Essential Truth of Lake.” /edv
