Zsa Zsa Padilla said she and her non-showbiz partner Conrad Onglao are already settled as a couple and have no plans to tie the knot.
Despite being together with Onglao for years, Padilla had a self-assured smile as she declared that they’re both good with not getting married, when asked if they still have plans of settling down together.
“Wedding? Wala na (There is none) actually. We’ve settled already. We’ve been together for 11 years now. We’re pretty good. Okay na kami (We are okay),” she told reporters during an intimate gathering for her upcoming concert.
When asked to explain why she and Onglao didn’t want to get married, Padilla reiterated that they discussed it as a couple while noting that “putting everything together” gets in the way of their respective careers.
“Basta nag-usap na kami, ‘yun na lang (We talked about it. That’s it). Because when you discuss marriage, it’s really putting everything together—assets and whatever,” she said. “It kind of gets in the way because we already established ourselves before we met each other, and may mga anak na kami (and now we have children). Ngayon, settled na kami sa mga plano namin (Now, we’re settled with our plans).”
Many middle-aged adults struggle with the thought of emptiness due to being unsure of how the remainder of their lives will turn out. Padilla said dealing with emptiness comes with acceptance, including the comfort of being at ease with Onglao.
“I think acceptance that, Conrad, it’s just you and me. It’s who you choose as a life partner,” she said. “Siyempre, kaming dalawa na lang (Of course, it’s just the two of us now). He is already trying to pursue his higher calling. This year, I will turn 61.”

Padilla admitted that she is unsure of how long she will remain in concerts, and the Sunday variety show “ASAP,” but she’s glad that she discovered what she wanted to do.
“I don’t know how long I can be in concerts and in ‘ASAP,’ depende ’yun sa health. But I believe that everyone wants to live with a purpose. Napakahalaga ng purpose. Gan’un pala ‘yun. When I was young, I didn’t know what I wanted,” she said.

The “Mambobola” singer started dating Onglao in 2014, after they were introduced to each other by Sharon Cuneta. They got engaged a year later, although they ended up parting ways. They eventually got back together five months after their breakup, and have been going strong since then.
Padilla is celebrating her 40th anniversary in showbiz and 61st birthday in her “Through the Years” concert on May 17 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater.
Her special guests include Erik Santos, Karylle, Zia Quizon, and Gary Valenciano.
