“Just yesterday when I lit a candle for Dad, I knew in my heart they were together in heaven,” she continued.

Barni then recounted how Hajji dedicated a performance of “If I Were Man Enough” to Diaz during a concert he staged.

“He always loved her,” Barni said. “They are both watching us from heaven. I can picture them laughing together like they always did since they both had the best sense of humor.”

Aside from Barni and Ali, Hajji has two other children, actress-singer Rachel Alejandro and Michelle. Barni and Rachel are Hajji’s children with his first wife, Myrna Demauro.

Hajji succumbed to colon cancer last April 21. Diaz died of colon cancer as well in 2004.

Meanwhile, Hajji was in a longtime relationship with singer Alynna Velasquez.

Prior to his passing, Velasquez revealed that she had a conflict with the singer’s family after his hospitalization. She further disclosed that she left his house to give way to them in caring for him.

Velasquez was also unable to visit Hajji’s wake because of “reasons she does not have control of.” Despite this, Velasquez appealed to the public to not blame the late singer’s family.

“There are some members who respect me and those who hate my existence. It’s just my destiny and predetermined path,” Velasquez said. “And I am also defective at times. For these, I apologize.”

“My biggest regret is I let some people interfere with our lives. So many wasted time,” she added.
