Actress-turned-politician Angelika Dela Cruz shrugged off the plunder charges filed against her before the Ombudsman, saying it was just another instance of “dirty political tactics.”
Dela Cruz claimed that the case is part of a broader campaign to “discredit” her after political opponents failed to get their way.
“Grabe talaga ang politics ‘pag hindi nila nakuha ang gusto nila sa siraan next step kakasuhan ka naman nila haayyy baka sa susunod niyan ipapatay niyo ako ah [squinting face with tongue emoji],” she wrote on a Facebook post on Monday night, April 28.
(Politics is really bad, if they don’t get what they want in slandering you, their next step is to sue you, maybe next time they’ll get me killed.)

On Monday, Dela Cruz, the incumbent barangay chair of Longos in Malabon City, was charged before the Office of the Ombudsman with plunder involving at least P70 million in public funds of the barangay.
Dela Cruz, who is now seeking the post of vice mayor in the May midterm elections, was also charged with administrative offenses for neglecting her duties as barangay captain, frequent absences without official leave, and the unauthorized transfer of her official duties to her brother, Kagawad Erick Dela Cruz.
