Days after Hajji Alejandro’s death, his girlfriend Alynna Velasquez is now at “peace” after being visited by a purple-necked pigeon, saying this was symbolical as purple was the late singer’s favorite color.
Velasquez took to her Facebook page on Friday, April 25, to share a glimpse of the pigeon, saying she woke up to its visit. The clip showed it perched on the window rail where it was joined by another pigeon.
“Woke up to this beautiful creation of God that warmed my heart. This [beautiful] purple-necked pigeon visited me this morning and even brought a friend,” she said. “The past few days, I never knew how to start my day as I grieve. But today, I felt peace and joy. Purple is Hajji’s favorite color.”
Velasquez also shared that “pigeons are often used as symbols of the holy spirit,” while touching on how the “worlds of the living and the dead” connect.
“In Christianity, pigeons are often used as symbols of the Holy Spirit, representing divine guidance and presence. They can also symbolize spiritual elevation and transcendence. They can also represent the communication between the worlds of the living and the dead,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, in a separate post, Velasquez reposted a photo of her visit to Alejandro’s star at the Eastwood Walk of Fame, saying it was meant to honor his life.
“It was just a quiet and solemn way to honor the man I love. I didn’t point a finger at anyone. I was ok with it. Rather, I blamed myself and just accepted my fate,” she said.
She also urged her followers to “not blame” Alejandro’s family while apologizing for allowing “some people to interfere [with their] lives.
“Dear friends and followers, please don’t attack or blame the family. There are some members who respect me and those who hate my existence. It’s just my destiny and predetermined path. And I am also defective at times. For these, I apologize,” she said.
“My biggest regret is I let some people interfere with our lives. So many wasted time. Life is just so short. Love the people who love the people you love,” she continued.
The OPM singer’s battle with stage four colon cancer was made public by Velasquez in a March 2025 interview. Despite the apparent rift she had with his family, the singer’s daughter Rachel thanked her for loving the singer.
Alejandro died on April 21 after his battle with cancer.
