Rabiya Mateo figures in wakeboarding accident, sustains bruises on face

Rabiya Mateo sustained minor injuries on her face after she was hit by a wakeboard during a recent trip.
The actress-beauty queen showed fans her face after the accident through her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, April 23. It can be seen that Mateo’s face has purplish marks in the undereye and cheek area, with one of her two front teeth chipped.
“Part of being adventurous is experiencing accidents,” she said, without giving further details on her trip. “Got hit by a wake board. Chipped my tooth. Got some bruising and swelling on my left face.”
Nonetheless, Mateo declared, “Still, life is good. Thank you, Lord!”

In a succeeding video, Mateo showed herself visiting a dental clinic to fix her chipped tooth.
Mateo rose to fame after she was crowned as the 2020 Miss Universe Philippines titleholder and competed in the 2020 Miss Universe.
While Mateo did not win the title, she ventured into show business through GMA and was given acting and hosting stints. She also earned several brand endorsements including a clothing brand.
“Looking back, I would say that style was never my priority. Because I had nothing in life, hindi ko priority na bumili ng magagandang damit kasi ang priority ko was to survive life,” she said in an interview during the clothing brand event in 2024. “This serves to remind myself to always be grateful and thankful for everything that is happening.”
