Judy Ann Santos admitted that while she is humbled to be labeled as the “Young Superstar,” especially in the past, she emphasized that no one would be able to live up to the legacy of the late Superstar and National Artist Nora Aunor

Santos, who attended Aunor’s wake on the last day, was asked about her feelings regarding being primed as the heiress to the multi-awarded actress, who died of acute respiratory failure after a medical procedure on April 16 at age 71.

(I always say that no one else can be a Superstar, only Ate Guy. Of course it’s heartwarming that there are labels like that, but I really say it’s not possible. No one can match the popularity, the extent of what Ate Guy has achieved.)

But I’m honored.

(I don’t want to be a hypocrite or lie that I don’t feel giddy with the title, but I’m not even close to the level that Ate Guy has reached, it’s still far, far away, and I don’t think I’ll ever reach that. But I’m honored. I’m grateful for the thought that she was a part of my career.)

Santos and Aunor worked together in the films “Sana Mahalin Mo Ako” (1988) and “Babae” (1997).

When asked what acting lesson she learned from Aunor, the “Espantaho” actress shared that the latter was so good at what she does that she gracefully carried her screen partners as well.

“Si Ate Guy hindi kasi siya ‘yung tipo ng artista that would coach you but she will support you, as in guide you all the way.

(Ate Guy is not the type of artist that would coach you but she will support you as in guide you all the way. You will feel her in the scene, that’s the suction, that’s her power. You don’t need to motivate when Ate Guy is your scene partner because she will take you with her.)

Santos emphasized that Aunor was an artist who needs no introduction for people to recognize her legacy and impact on the showbiz industry, and paved the way for artists like her.

“I think wala naman kailangang more words for Ate Guy, her name alone stands […]

(I think there is no need for more words for Ate Guy, her name alone stands […] What Ate Guy left behind is her talent for acting. The extent of what she achieved is like she expanded the world of show business, she paved the way for us. People had dreams because of her.)

Aunor, who died of acute respiratory failure at age 71, was laid to rest with full honors on April 22 at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
