Carly Rae Jepsen is set to bring the 1999 romantic comedy hit “10 Things I Hate About You,” starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, to the theater stage.
Jepsen shared the news through her Instagram page on Wednesday, April 23, by posting a music sheet with a yellow sticky note featuring the “10 Things I Hate About You” title.
The singer also shared a clip of her jamming to the famous scene where Ledger’s Patrick serenades Stiles’ Kat with “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
“I can tell you 10 things I’m excited about right now or just skip to number one which is working on this dream project with this dream team! #10ThingsMusical,” she captioned the post.

According to a report by Variety, Jepsen is collaborating with Golden Globe-winning “Girls” creator Lena Dunham to adapt the film.
The Grammy-nominated singer is co-writing the score with producer Ethan Gruska, with whom she worked on her most recent album, “The Loveliest Time,” while Dunham is set to co-write the book with playwright Jessica Huang.
“10 Things I Hate About You” is a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.” Set in a high school in Padua, California, the film centers on Kat Stratford (Stiles), who is uninterested in dating until the school’s heartthrob, Patrick Verona (Ledger), comes into the picture. Patrick is paid to date her so that her sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik) can finally go out with her crush, Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt).
The film became a cult classic not only for Ledger and Stiles’ performances but also for performing well at the box office, grossing around $53 million in the United States against a production budget of $16 million.
Meanwhile, Jepsen rose to fame, particularly in the Philippines, because of her 2011 hit song “Call Me Maybe.”
In 2023, Jepsen returned to Manila after her first concert in the country in 2013. Upon her return, she visited Intramuros and also tried sorbetes (Filipino ice cream) at Fort Santiago.
