The remains of National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor have arrived at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) in Taguig City on Tuesday, April 22, where she will be accorded full military honors in a state funeral and hero’s burial.
Aunor’s flag-draped casket left the Metropolitan theater in Manila at 11 a.m. where a state necrological service was held, before her cortege left for a solemn motorcade to the LNMB.
Many fans of the Superstar have arrived early at the Libingan ng mga Bayani to be able to witness the ceremonies up close.
White tents were put up around the burial site, also covered by canopy. A green cloth with gold trims covered the center where Aunor’s casket will be lowered or interred. Chairs designated for the family, friends, and fans were also arranged around the site.

Aunor’s remains will be laid to rest in Section 13 of the Libingan ng mga Bayani, where other National Artists and scientists are also buried, beside the resting places of fellow National Artists and directors Ishmael Bernal and Marilou Diaz-Abaya.
The convoy, carrying Aunor and her family members, entered through the main gates of the Libingan ng mga Bayani, where the ceremonial guard of honor stood at attention as the casket was transferred to the burial site in preparation for the official interment ceremonies.
In accordance with military protocol for National Artists, Aunor is expected to be given full military honors, including a 21-gun salute, flag-folding ceremony, and the final sounding of “Taps,” a patriotic ceremonial tube played during military funerals.
