Nora Aunor’s daughter Lotlot de Leon expressed her gratitude to the public for honoring their late mother as she stressed that the family gathers strength from supporters.
“We’re grateful to everyone for loving her, for honoring her. Actually lahat po ng nagpapadala ng (those who send their) condolences, greetings, we really appreciate that. Sa kanila rin po kami kumukuha ng lakas, kaming magkakapatid (Us siblings also get strength from them),” she tearfully told reporters on Friday, April 18, at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

De Leon is also grateful that the family gets to mourn in private before the wake of Aunor is opened to the public on Saturday, April 19, until Sunday.
“Gaya nga po ng sinabi ko kahapon itong mga oras na ‘to is the only time na sa amin ang mommy namin (Like what I said yesterday, this is the only time we get to have our mom to ourselves). All her life she’s devoted to the public, to her work. Sabi naming mga magkakapatid, kahit ilang araw lang sa amin lang siya (Us siblings said at least for a few days our mom was ours),” she said.
“She’s our National Artist. She’s well loved. She’s respected. We’re just truly grateful for everyone who’s also mourning with us,” added the celebrity daughter.
Aunor died of acute respiratory failure on Wednesday, April 16. She was 71.
On Tuesday, the late National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts will be honored with a state funeral ahead of her interment at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
