Nearly three decades after the release of the 1995 cult classic film “Clueless,” Alicia Silverstone is set to return as Cher Horowitz in a sequel TV series currently in development by the streaming service Peacock.

“Clueless” follows Silverstone’s Cher, the most popular girl at Bronson Alcott High School, who serves as a successful matchmaker for her friends and even her teachers.
The upcoming show is expected to continue Cher’s story after the events of the original film, which hinted at a romantic future with Paul Rudd’s character, Josh Lucas.
The series will be co-written and produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on “Gossip Girl,” alongside Jordan Weiss of “Dollface.”
Amy Heckerling, the original writer and director of “Clueless,” will also join as an executive producer, ensuring the new series stays true to the spirit of the beloved film.
The original “Clueless” film was a sleeper hit that achieved cult status after its release, grossing nearly $57 million at the box office and inspiring a TV series and a stage musical.
In 2020, a mystery series focusing on Cher’s best friend, Dionne (Stacey Dash), was in the works with a different creative team, but the development did not move forward.
