Alexie Brooks dazzles in gold, plastic in Miss Eco International 2025 prelims

The Philippines’ Alexie Brooks made it to the shortlist for the “Best in Eco Dress” award during the preliminary competition of the 2025 Miss Eco International pageant wearing an outfit using discarded plastic bottles.
Drawing inspiration from the West Philippine Sea, the Ilongga national athlete’s dress took center stage at the Hilton Alexandria King’s Ranch in Egypt on April 17 (April 18 in Manila).
“The West Philippine Sea is an ecological treasure, abundant in unique aquatic life, rich coral reefs, and vital biological resources,” Brooks wrote on social media showing the creation of designer Tata Blas Pinuela.
Citing the pollution that threatens the said body of water, she said she hopes her “eco wear” will urge the people to recycle and care for the planet.
Ukraine’s Yelyzaweta Adamska topped the segment and received the “Best Eco Dress” award with her “A Memory in Petals” attire. The distinction gives her an automatic entry to the Top 12 in the finale.
For the gown portion of the preliminary competition, Brooks paraded in her “Eco Warrior” gown designed by Mara Chua, which incorporated a gold armor-like bodice.
“Tonight, I wear more than just a gown. I wear a message. This look embodies the spirit of an Eco Warrior: a strong woman, a protector of nature, and a voice for our planet,” she said on social media.
Brooks was among the 10 finalists during the “Best in Resort Wear” competition held in Hurghada earlier, and is currently leading in the online poll for the “Miss Eco People’s Choice” title.
The Philippines has an impressive record in the Miss Eco International pageant with two victories courtesy of Cynthia Thomalla in 2018 and Kathleen Paton in 2022. Three more ladies finished second, Maureen Montagne in 2019, Kelley Day in 2021, and Chantal Schmidt in 2024.
The 2025 Miss Eco International final competition show will be held at the AlZahraa Ballroom of Hilton Green Plaza in Alexandria on April 19 (April 20 in Manila).
