Sofia Pablo opened up about the struggles she faces in balancing her acting career and academics, emphasizing how she doesn’t want to be a “burden” to her classmates in relation to school activities.
Pablo reflected on the negative comments she received in the past that accused her of having no “contribution” to her group projects, given that she’s often seen doing celebrity pursuits.
“I was just typing away for entrepreneurship when I suddenly remembered the comments I got last year after posting about our thesis defense. “MakapagTikTok kala mo naman may ambag” (Doing TikTok videos as if she has a contribution). At that time, I actually felt sad — because they didn’t know how much effort and time I was really putting into school,” she wrote on Instagram.
The 19-year-old actress underscored that, contrary to popular belief, she completed most of her group tasks alone, as she didn’t want to be a “burden” to her classmates considering her work schedule.

“What most people don’t see is… I actually choose to do group tasks alone (except for our thesis paper!!). Not because I don’t want to work with others, but because I know my schedule isn’t always the easiest to work around — and I don’t wanna be the ‘pabigat’ (burden) or ‘walang ambag’ (no contribution) [to the group],” she explained.
Pablo noted that she delivered a full TED Talk, wrote an entire research paper with surveys, and created 10-minute presentations by herself.
“I’ve learned how to manage, even when it gets tiring. I’m sharing this not to prove anything, but to remind you — and myself — that as long as you want something and you’re willing to work for it, it’s possible,” she stated, adding that there are 2 months left before her senior high school graduation.
Incidentally, fellow Kapuso actress Mikee Quintos was at the center of past headlines for allegedly not contributing to her respective group thesis. She addressed the issue by clarifying that it was an “individual thesis, not a group one.”
Meanwhile, Pablo is best known for her role as Len-Len in the drama series “Prima Donnas.” She currently headlines the drama series “Ang Prinsesa ng City Jail.” She also recently appeared in the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Green Bones” with Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid.
