Nora Aunor's wake open to public on April 19, 20; state funeral set for April 22

The family of National Artist and Superstar Nora Aunor will be opening the late screen veteran’s wake to the public for a limited time, before her burial on Tuesday, April 22.

Actress Lotlot de Leon, Aunor’s daughter, announced the wake details through her Instagram page on Thursday, April 17.

The wake is at The Chapels at Heritage Park in Taguig City, and will be for family members only on Thursday. Private viewing for family and friends of the veteran actress began on April 18.

Fans of Aunor can take a last look at the Superstar during the public viewing Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Aunor’s internment at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani will be held on April 22. Details on the state funeral have yet to be announced as of this writing.

Aunor died on Wednesday, April 16, at age 71, as confirmed by her family. While the cause of death was not immediately disclosed, the late actress reportedly died while undergoing a heart procedure.

The National Artist’s passing was mourned by her family, fellow celebrities, Noranians as well as the Philippine senators and President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Among the celebrities who paid tribute to Aunor were Vilma Santos, Charo Santos, Maricel Soriano, Hilda Koronel, Eugene Domingo and Cherry Pie Picache.
