The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) conducted on-the-spot inspections and information drive on April 14-15 in Metro Manila bus terminals to ensure compliance with content regulations in public transportation this holy week.
Through the MTRCB-Monitoring and Inspection Unit (MIU), the Board checked the compliance of terminals and public utility vehicle (PUV) operators and drivers in exhibiting only G (General Audience) and PG (Parental Guidance) rated content, making sure that no offensive or unclassified materials were exhibited.
The activity aimed to uphold the Agency’s commitment to promote responsible and age-appropriate viewing, particularly in public spaces where families and children are likely to be present.
The Board inspected terminals at EDSA-Araneta-Cubao Station in Quezon City, Buendia, Manila, and Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) in Paranaque City.
The team also put tarpaulins in waiting areas and distributed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to travelers.
Operators and drivers were reminded of their responsibilities under Presidential Decree No. 1986 and the 2004 Revised MTRCB Implementing Rules and Regulations.
“This is part of our larger responsibility to ensure that every Filipino commuter, particularly commuting children, will experience a safe and family-friendly environment, even while in transit,” said MTRCB chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio.
No violations were found during the inspection.
The public is encouraged to report any violations by contacting MTRCB through its official social media channels (@MTRCBGov) or email: [email protected].
The Board commits to work closely with stakeholders in the transportation sector to promote responsible viewing and raise public awareness on age-appropriate classification.
