GMA brings Lenten reflections with 2025 Holy Week Specials

GMA Network will be among the networks that will commemorate the Holy Week by featuring reflective films and programs for Filipino viewers.

On Maundy Thursday, April 17, GMA opens its airing with the biographical animated film “The Story of Jesus for Children” at 6 a.m. This will be followed by a lineup of animated movies including “Flushed Away” at 7:30 a.m., “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip” at 8:30 a.m., and “Space Jam: A New Legacy” at 10 a.m.

At 11:30 a.m., GMA will air the Biblical epic “Noah,” followed by the docu-feature “My Mother, My Story” featuring Sparkle artist Jillian Ward at 1:30 pm.

Viewers can then watch the religious drama series “The Chosen” at 2:30 p.m., then catch the award-winning documentary program “The Atom Araullo Specials” at 5:30 p.m.

The GMA’s flagship newscast “24 Oras” will air at 6:30 p.m., followed by “The Ten Commandments” and the long-running documentary program “I-Witness” at 7:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., respectively.

On Good Friday, April 18, the programming begins at 6 a.m. with the religious drama “Magdalena,” then the inspirational program “Power to Unite with Elvira” at 7:30 a.m.

Another set of animated family movies will be featured in the morning, including “Joseph: King of Dreams” at 8 a.m, “Sherlock Gnomes” at 9 a.m. and “Firehouse Dog” at 10:30 a.m.

At 12 noon, the network will air the Siete Palabras from the Sto. Domingo church. In the afternoon, viewers can watch the “My Mother, My Story” featuring Ai-Ai delas Alas at 2 p.m, another installment of “The Chosen” at 3 p.m., and “Tanikala: Preso” at 5:30 p.m.

“24 Oras” will air at 6:30 pm, followed by the family drama film “Family Matters” at 7:30 p.m, “LSS” at 9:30 p.m., and “I-Witness” at 11:15 p.m.

On April 19, Black Saturday will begin with the film “Jesus” at 6 a.m. Coming after this is the musical religious special “Himig Panalangin” at 7:30 a.m., “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax” at 9:30 a.m., and “Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library” at 10:30 a.m.

The historical epic “Ben-Hur” will then air at 12 noon, another “My Mother, My Story” which features Bea Alonzo at 2 p.m., the final set of episodes of “The Chosen” at 3 p.m, then “Pinas Sarap” at 5:30 p.m.

“24 Oras” will still air on the 6:30 p.m. timeslot, and will be followed by the blockbuster classic “Titanic” at 7:30 p.m, and “I-Witness” at 11:15 p.m.

Aside from GMA, “Eat Bulaga” on TV5 also airs its annual Lenten specials headlined by its hosts. This year, the show has three programs on its lineup, namely “Paano ba Magpatawad?” on Holy Monday, April 14; “Libre ang Mangarap” on Holy Tuesday, April 15; and “Happy Pill” on Holy Wednesday, April 16.
