As thousands of Filipinos will be traveling this Holy Week, drivers and operators of public utility vehicles (PUV) were urged by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to screen Rated G and PG content only.

According to the MTRCB, the policy is mandated under Memorandum Circular No. 03-2024, where films should be “appropriate for all audiences, particularly children.”

“According to Chapter III Section 2 of the said law, because of its character and accessibility regardless of age, “common carriers and other public places can only exhibit such motion pictures and/or trailers classified by the Board as G or PG. This ensures that content remains appropriate and has no negative impact on minors traveling with their families,” MTRCB said.

The government agency said violators will be subjected to legal action, citing Presidential Decree No. 1986 and Chapter XIII of the 2004 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations.

MTRCB chairperson and CEO Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto-Antonio also reminded of the importance of screening the proper films and other related content to be shown on public transportation.

“Our commitment is to ensure that the content shown in PUVs is safe for all passengers, particularly children traveling with their families,” she said in a press statement.
