“We are thrilled to have been chosen to represent the Philippines at the ASEAN-Korea Music Festival,” said Ace, the group’s leader. “This is an incredible opportunity for us to showcase our music and connect with audiences from different cultures.”
“We look forward to bringing the spirit of Filipino pride and the Filipinos’ love for music to the festival! Of course, we will also bring Philippine fashion as well, as we don the designs of Filipino fashion designer, Jobert Cristobal,” he added.
1st One debuted in 2020 with the single “You Are the One.” They landed No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart in 2022 with their song “Shout Out.”
At the time, they also became the first P-pop boy group to perform at the 29th Seoul Music Awards in Korea. Over the years, they received recognitions such as P-pop Awards’ Pop Live Performer of 2022 and the People’s Choice Award 2023, among others.
The boy band recently released their new single, “Alam Mo Ba,” a love song that explores the dynamic of a “situationship” or relationship “fling.”
1st One, composed of members J, Alpha, Jayson, Ace, Joker and Max, is expected to perform their original songs in the festival alongside other musical numbers that reflect contemporary Filipino pop culture.
The Philippines’ previous representatives to the said international music festival were indie folk-pop band Ben&Ben and nation’s boy group, SB19.
The ASEAN-Korea Music Festival is set to take place on June 21-22 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
