Mark your calendars, pageant fans, as Miss International 2025 will hold its coronation ceremonies on Nov. 27 in Tokyo, Japan.
One of the longest-running international pageants made the announcement on social media on Monday evening, March 24.
“Miss International 2025 will be held in Tokyo, Japan on November 27th [crown emoji],” said the announcement posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
It will be a busy November for avid followers of international beauty pageants as the Miss Universe announced that it’s 2025 coronation show is scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on Nov. 21.
The Japan-based international pageant is sticking to its usual schedule every fourth quarter for its 63rd edition this year, a practice that has been observed since 2006.
Tokyo has also been the preferred location in Japan for the coronation ceremonies since 2013, when Bea Rose Santiago posted the Philippines’ fourth win in the pageant.
Since the pageant’s ownership moved to Japanese entities, the Miss International pageant has been staged mostly in Japan, with the exception of 2004, 2006, and 2008 to 2011 when the contest took place in China and Macau.
Japan first hosted the Miss International pageant in 1968, and held the event until 1970 when Aurora Pijuan posted the Philippines’ second win in the competition.
It returned to Long Beach, California, in the United States for the 1971 competition, then moved back to Japan where it was staged in different parts of the country from 1972 to 2003.
More than 70 delegates from different countries and territories are expected to take part in the competition this year, and try to inherit the Miss International title from last year’s winner, Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy, the first queen from Vietnam.
Myrna Esguerra earned the right to represent the Philippines in the 63rd Miss International pageant when she won her national crown in the 60th Binibining Pilipinas competition held last year.
She will try to score the Philippines’ seventh win in the Miss International pageant, and sustain the country’s standing as the most successful Asian nation in the Japan-based global tilt.
Aside from Santiago and Pijuan, Gemma Cruz, Melanie Marquez, Precious Lara Quigaman and Kylie Verzosa also won the Miss International title for the Philippines.
