Robinsons Magnolia has been officially chosen by the Quezon City Government as the venue for its Earth Hour 2025 celebration. This partnership encourages businesses and residents to switch off non-essential lights for one hour on Saturday, March 22, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, in a collective effort for a sustainable future.

“When we switch off our lights, we do more than conserve energy—we are taking a stand against the rising greenhouse gas emissions fueling climate change. It’s a simple act that reminds us of our impact on the planet and the need for urgent action,” said Mayor Joy Belmonte, a UN Environment Program Champion of the Earth awardee.

The event at Robinsons Magnolia will kick off at 4:00 PM, featuring interactive exhibits, sustainability talks, and a special screening of A Thousand Forests, a 2024 Philippine coming-of-age musical film written by Jeff Ocampo and directed by Hanz Florentino.

The highlight of the evening, the official lights-off ceremony from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, will be led by Mayor Joy Belmonte together with other LGU officials and Robinsons Malls management.  The event aims to bring the community together in support of sustainability and climate action.

“This collaboration reflects our strong commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. As we host Earth Hour in Robinsons Magnolia and in all our malls nationwide, we continue to create spaces where communities can unite for a greener future,” said Joel Lumanlan, Robinsons Malls’ VP and Head of Operations and Marketing.

Robinsons Magnolia has been recognized for its sustainability initiatives, winning the Sustainable Shopping Center Design Award from the Philippine Retailers Association during the 2024 Outstanding Filipino Retailers Awards. The mall integrates eco-friendly solutions, including energy-efficient infrastructure, plastic waste reduction programs, and sustainable transportation options such as EV charging stations and bike racks. Further solidifying its commitment, Robinsons Magnolia also received the Excellence in Climate Action Award at the 2023 Quezon City Green Awards for its Green Residuals Waste Management Program, which promotes responsible waste management and circular economy practices.

Earth Hour is one of the world’s largest grassroots environmental movements, engaging millions of people across over 190 countries in a unified call for climate action. As the world faces increasing climate challenges, events like Earth Hour serve as a powerful reminder of the need for urgent and collective efforts toward sustainability.
