Two days after the death of her grandmother, screen veteran Delia Razon, Kapuso star Carla Abellana paid a brief tribute to her beloved grandmother, with whom she was very close.

On Instagram, Abellana posted several pictures of Razon at her prime, while others showed the veteran actress surrounded by family members in recent years.

“The strongest, bravest, fiercest and most beautiful,” Abellana said.

Razon died on Saturday, March 15, at age 94 years old. Her death was announced by Abellana a day later on Sunday, but no cause of death was mentioned.

In a previous interview with Inquirer, Abellana said that she was a “lola’s girl,” having grown up in Razon’s sprawling villa in Quezon City. She said that when she finally was able to get a place of her own, she chose to live near her grandmother’s house, just as she promised her.

“We chose this area because it’s near my lola’s home and the studio as well,” said Abellana. She said that she immediately brought her grandmother to her new nest. “When she saw our place, she was happy. Lola told me that I was just like her young self.”

Razon, meanwhile, claimed that she was proud of her granddaughter for managing to save her earnings and put it in a solid investment. “When I was starting in LVN, [producer] Doña Sisang [de Leon] taught me to invest wisely and helped me build my own house, too.”

Condolences, honor pour in

Abellana and Razon’s friends in show business expressed condolences, among them, fellow screen veteran Coney Reyes, who addressed the latter using her real name.

She was best known for her appearances in the films “Rodrigo de Villa,” “Lapu-Lapu,” “Luksang Tagumpay,” “Prinsipe Teñoso,” and “Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan?.”
