Dominique Cojuangco told her followers to be wary of a poser who has been using her identity and messaging several people from her team.

Cojuangco shared a photo of the poser’s account in a messaging application, through her Instagram Stories on Friday, March 14. The account uses Cojuangco’s married name and has her portrait as its display picture.

“My team is receiving calls and messages from this number! If you are too, it’s not me,” she captioned the photo, highlighting the phone number used by the poser.

Even prior to Cojuangco, several celebrities had warned about this modus of scammers who use their identities to ask for money from victims.

Among the recent ones who experienced such was actress-comedian Rufa Mae Quinto. Her identity was used by a poser amid her legal battle in relation to her prior endorsement of embattled skincare company Dermacare.

The scammer had reached out to an acquaintance of the actress to ask for money, using Quinto’s circumstances at the time to appeal for pity.

Other celebrities whose identities were also used in this modus were Nadine Lustre, Vicki Belo and Ariel Rivera, among many others.
